Udinese Calcio have appointed Francesco Guidolin as their new coach in place of Pasquale Marino, who led the club to a disappointing 15th-place finish in Serie A this season.

Guidolin has signed a two-year contract at Udinese and arrives for a second stint in charge of the Zebrette after guiding Parma FC to eighth in the standings. The 54-year-old made his name as a coach with another team from north east Italy when he led Vicenza Calcio to the 1997 Coppa Italia and the subsequent season's UEFA Cup Winners' Cup semi-finals. He moved to Udinese for the following campaign before spells at Bologna FC, US Città di Palermo, Genoa CFC and AS Monaco FC preceded his move to Parma in 2008, whom he took back into the top flight.
