Bunderla caps Maribor final comeback

NK Maribor lifted the Slovenian Cup for the sixth time after defeating NK Domžale 3-2 after extra time.

David Bunderla headed in the winner in Maribor in the 119th minute from Suad Filekovič's free-kick, ending their six-year wait for the trophy and making up for relinquishing the league title to FC Koper. Blaž Brezovački shocked the home crowd with the opening goal after 31 minutes but their nerves were eased soon after by captain Marcos Tavares' close-range finish, only for former Maribor forward Damir Pekič to restore Domžale's lead with a header from Marko Drevenšek's corner.

Darko Milanič's team came out after the break with renewed vigour and deservedly equalised on 55 minutes when Tavares nodded in Dejan Školnik's delivery. Both sides then created, and squandered, chances to win the match in normal time. Filekovič came close, team-mate Dejan Mezga struck the post and Domžale's Mitja Zatkovič failed to beat Marko Ranilovič with just the Maribor goalkeeper to beat. However, with spot-kicks looming, Bunderla had the final say.
