The UEFA Referees Committee today announced the referee for the final of the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League between FC Bayern München and FC Internazionale Milano to be played at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, on Saturday 22 May, kicking-off at 20.45 CET.
The match will be handled by 38-year-old English referee Howard Melton Webb, who has been an international referee since 2005 and has officiated in total 47 UEFA matches in his refereeing career.
Webb has handled 19 UEFA Champions League matches in total, and six in the current season. Among others, he officiated at the quarter-final first leg between FC Internazionale Milano and PFC CSKA Moskva in Milan and at the group stage match between FC Dynamo Kyiv and FC Barcelona in Kyiv. He also officiated at the semi-final first leg of the UEFA Cup 2008/09 between Werder Bremen and Hamburger SV in Bremen.
Webb has also been appointed for several prestigious national team matches, including two UEFA EURO 2008™ final tournament matches and three FIFA World Cup 2010 qualifying matches.
At the final in Madrid, Webb will be assisted by his fellow countrymen Michael Mullarkey and Darren Cann. The fourth official will be Martin Atkinson, also from England.
