Cudicini pens new Spurs deal

Tottenham Hotspur FC goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has signed a new one-year deal keeping him at White Hart Lane until 2011. The 36-year-old backup to Heurelho Gomes has recovered after fracturing both wrists and injuring his pelvis in a road accident last November. "We are delighted at how well Carlo has progressed," said the club's head of medical services, Wayne Diesel. "He has shown a great deal of self-discipline and motivation to come back from this." Tottenham qualified for the UEFA Champions League play-offs by finishing fourth in the Premier League last season.

A club statement read: "Carlo Cudicini has fractured his wrists and injured his pelvis after being involved in a road accident this morning. The 36-year-old Italian goalkeeper has been admitted to hospital and undergone scans under the supervision of club medical staff."
