AS Bari have completed the permanent signing of Juventus midfielder Sergio Almirón.
The Argentinian player has switched clubs for a fee of €5m, although no contract details have been released. Almirón, 29, spent last season on loan at Bari, scoring five goals in 27 Serie A appearances to help the promoted side finish tenth.
Having joined Juventus from Empoli FC in a €9m deal in 2007, he struggled to make an impact and was loaned first to AS Monaco FC, then, in 2008/09, to ACF Fiorentina. Udinese Calcio originally brought Almirón to Italy from CA Newell's Old Boys in 2001, and he played on loan at Hellas Verona FC before landing at Empoli three years later. His father, Sergio Omar Almirón, was in Argentina's 1986 FIFA World Cup-winning squad.
