FC Internazionale Milano are the outright leaders of Serie A after defeating AS Bari 4-0, though the form of some of the league's lesser lights mean the upper echelons still bear an unfamiliar appearance.
Having started the day behind AC Cesena on goal difference, Inter ended it a point clear of AC Chievo Verona and Brescia Calcio thanks to two goals apiece from Samuel Eto'o – both penalties – and Diego Milito. Chievo, for their part, came from behind to win 3-1 at SSC Napoli while Brescia ensured AS Roma's early-season malaise continued.
The Rondinelle condemned the visitors, who had Philippe Mexès (65) sent off, to a 2-1 defeat, leaving the capital club with just two points from four games. Roma goalkeeper Júlio Sérgio suffered an ankle injury late on but remained on the field as the Giallorossi had made three substitutions.
Cesena, meanwhile, conceded their first goals of the season in a 2-0 loss at Calcio Catania, who rise to fourth. Elsewhere, Zlatan Ibrahimović opened the scoring in AC Milan's 1-1 draw at S.S. Lazio.
