S.S. Lazio have moved level with FC Internazionale Milano at the top of the Serie A standings after triumphing 1-0 at high-fliers AC Chievo Verona, whose promising start took a similar dent to Brescia Calcio's following their 2-1 loss at AS Bari.
Chievo began the day in second spot and hopeful of overtaking Inter in pole position, but instead it was visitors Lazio who laid down a marker thanks to Mauro Zárate's low finish on 69 minutes. The capital side now boast ten points, one more than Chievo and Brescia, who were undone by Paulo Barreto's 55th-minute penalty for Bari.
The day's biggest winners were SSC Napoli, who posted a 4-1 success at AC Cesena thanks in part to a late Edinson Cavani brace. That result lifted them to sixth, one spot ahead of Calcio Catania, who drew 1-1 with Bologna FC.
In the lower reaches, Udinese Calcio collected their first point courtesy of a goalless stalemate at UC Sampdoria and ACF Fiorentina climbed out of the bottom three by downing Parma FC 2-0. In the late game, Juventus surged up to mid-table, with Miloš Krasić hitting a hat-trick in their 4-2 defeat of Cagliari Calcio.
