ACF Fiorentina moved off the foot of Serie A after Marco Donadel and Alberto Gilardino struck in either half against AS Bari, who scored a late consolation through Alessandro Parisi.

The Viola dominated throughout and came close to taking the lead when Manuel Pasqual glanced Mario Santana's header just wide on 24 minutes. Moments later Donadel tried his luck only for his shot to fizz narrowly past the post, but the midfielder would not wait long for his goal.

Cutting in from the right, the 27-year-old unleashed a curling left-footed shot from 25 metres that flew in off the far post. But for an acrobatic save from Jean-François Gillet, Riccardo Montolivo would have doubled the lead for Siniša Mihajlović's men with a thumping long-range drive on 37 minutes.

Adem Ljajić thought he had scored five minutes after half-time only for Santana to be flagged offside, but Ljajić was instrumental in the Gigliati's second goal (82), breaking through to draw another save from Gillet; the rebound fell to Gilardino who made no mistake. Though Parisi headed in Emmanuel Rivas' added-time corner, Bari slumped to their third successive defeat, while Fiorentina shot up to 11th.
