French champions Olympique de Marseille have worked their way up to second spot in Ligue 1 after engineering a 3-1 victory at LOSC Lille Métropole.
Didier Deschamps' side began their title defence with a pair of defeats but they now find themselves a solitary point shy of leaders Stade Rennais FC – and ahead of AS Saint-Etienne and Stade Brestois 29 on goal difference – thanks to a comeback win in northern France. Yohan Cabaye put the hosts ahead on 26 minutes, yet a pair of second-half Loïc Rémy strikes either side of a Lucho González goal turned the match around.
Also on Sunday, Olympique Lyonnais followed up their third consecutive victory in the UEFA Champions League group stage with a 1-1 draw at bottom side AC Arles-Avignon. Jimmy Briand levelled for the visitors seconds after the restart as Arles-Avignon picked up only their second point this term. AJ Auxerre have lost all three of their UEFA Champions League group stage encounters, in contrast, but they marked their return to domestic affairs by triumphing 3-2 at Paris Saint-Germain FC, for whom Nenê scored twice.
