A first-half hat-trick by Moussa Sow helped propel LOSC Lille Métropole into second place in Ligue 1, a point behind Stade Brestois 29, who were held to a 1-1 home draw by FC Sochaux-Montbéliard.
Sow struck on 25, 34 and 45 minutes to give Les Dogues a 3-1 half-time lead, and although Kandia Traoré (88) gave SM Caen late hope, Gervinho and Franck Beria secured the 5-2 win with added-time strikes. Goal difference takes Lille above Montpellier Hérault SC, who earned a 1-0 success against Toulouse FC thanks to Olivier Giroud (20).
Brest required Nolan Roux's effort (38) to square the match for the leaders after Brown Ideye (22) had put Sochaux ahead. Olympique de Marseille are three points adrift of the summit after they also drew 1-1 at home, with RC Lens. Eduardo Ribeiro (56) cancelled out Stéphane Mbia's opener (6) for OM, leaving the UEFA Champions League contenders in fifth place.
FC Girondins de Bordeaux are in seventh after Wendel's last-gasp winner sealed a 2-1 defeat of AS Nancy-Lorraine. At the other end of the table, AS Monaco FC shared a goalless draw with bottom side AC Arles-Avignon, while Valenciennes FC v AS Saint-Étienne was postponed due to torrential rain.
