Park Ji-Sung scored an added-time winner as Manchester United FC defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers FC 2-1 at Old Trafford on a day when Tottenham Hotspur FC were brought back down to earth following their midweek European exploits.
United, for whom Owen Hargreaves limped off inside ten minutes on what was his first start in over two years because of injury, took the lead through Park (45). Sylvan Ebanks-Blake equalised after the break only for the Korea Republic winger to strike at the last, leaving the Red Devils two points behind leaders Chelsea FC ahead of their game at Liverpool FC on Sunday.
Bolton Wanderers FC leapfrogged Tottenham into fifth after defeating Harry Redknapp's team. The Londoners, 3-1 winners against FC Internazionale Milano on Tuesday, were beaten 4-2 by the Lancashire club, for whom Kevin Davies weighed in with two.
Meanwhile, Asamoah Gyan scored twice on his first league start for Sunderland AFC in a 2-0 home triumph over Stoke City FC, while Birmingham City FC drew 2-2 with bottom-placed West Ham United FC having been two goals down. Elsewhere, Blackpool FC and Everton FC played out the same scoreline, Fulham FC-Aston Villa FC finished 1-1 and Blackburn Rovers FC overcame Wigan Athletic FC 2-1.
