Valeri Bojinov scored the only goal as Parma FC beat UC Sampdoria to record just their second Serie A victory of the season.
A point adrift at the foot of the table at the start of the day, Parma were without a win since the opening day of the campaign. Indeed, Pasquale Marino's side soon found themselves on the back foot and nearly fell behind when Vladimir Koman struck the bar. The hosts had chances of their own, though, Antonio Candreva's header forcing Gianluca Curci into an impressive save.
Sampdoria were back in the ascendancy after the break but were once again denied by the woodwork, Giampaolo Pazzini's thumping free-kick hitting the bar. Parma had further chances and their time looked to have run out until Bojinov raced clear and picked his spot to register his first goal since 29 August.
