Anorthosis Famagusta FC have replaced outgoing coach Guillermo Ángel Hoyos with their former midfield player Slobodan Krčmarević.
The 45-year-old Krčmarević was dismissed by Apollon Limassol FC barely a month ago but will now be making his debut as coach of Anorthosis against his old side on Saturday. He has signed an 18-month deal with the Nicosia-based club. Anorthosis lie fourth in the 14-team Cypriot top flight, seven points adrift of leaders APOEL FC.
Argentinian Hoyo arrived in the summer but failure to get the club into the UEFA Europa League group stage before a recent run of four games without a win prompted his departure on Wednesday along with his assistant coach and translator.
On the same evening, Anorthosis confirmed the appointment of Krčmarević, a former coach of OFK Beograd and the Serbia Under-21 side. As a player, Krčmarević turned out for a number of clubs including Apollon and FK Partizan.
