PSG denied top spot by Monaco

A late leveller for AS Monaco FC consigned Paris Saint-Germain FC to a 2-2 draw that prevented them from going top, with Stade Rennais FC now third thanks to a last-gasp winner.

Paris Saint-Germain FC were denied top spot in Ligue 1 as Daniel Niculae's late leveller earned visitors AS Monaco FC a 2-2 draw. The capital club's frustration contrasted with Stade Rennais FC's relief after their last-gasp winner against Valenciennes FC propelled them up to third.

Sébastien Puygrenier gave Monaco the lead in Paris with 32 minutes gone, but a double from Nenê either side of half-time looked set to send PSG ahead of frontrunners LOSC Lille Métropole, who entertain AS Nancy-Lorraine on Sunday. It was not to be, however, as Niculae controlled and buried from Chris Malonga's cross with two minutes remaining.

UEFA Europa League contenders PSG now trail Lille on goal difference, with Rennes below them on the same points tally following their 1-0 success against Valenciennes. Jean-Armel Kana Biyik delivered the decisive blow four minutes into added time, heading in a Fabien Lemoine corner.

AS Saint-Étienne are up to fifth, meanwhile, after they engineered a 2-0 win against bottom side AC Arles-Avignon, who had Sébastien Piocelle dismissed on 57 minutes. Elsewhere, Toulouse FC swept aside FC Lorient 3-0 and it finished 1-1 between both Montpellier Hérault SC and AJ Auxerre, and OGC Nice and Stade Brestois 29. Weather conditions accounted for SM Caen's trip to RC Lens, finally.
