FC Olimpi Rustavi defeated FC WIT Georgia 2-0 to win the Georgian Super Cup and give Tornike Maisuradze his first trophy a week into his maiden senior coaching job.

The 32-year-old, previously a youth coach, replaced Nestor Mumladze last week. Thirty minutes into his debut game, reigning league champions Olimpi were ahead when Giorgi Kavtaradze, who had already hit the crossbar, intercepted a Giga Bechvaia clearance and set up Irakli Modebadze to strike from ten metres out.

Georgian Cup holders WIT, who won the Super Cup last year, had previously gone close when Giorgi Vasadze was unable to beat Olimpi goalkeeper Grigol Bediashvili. It was 2-0 in the second half when Revaz Getsadze sent a free-kick into the top corner. At the winter break, Olimpi are level with leaders FC Zestafoni while WIT are 15 points back in sixth.
