LOSC Lille Métropole established a four-point cushion at the top of Ligue 1 following a 3-0 home victory against AS Nancy-Lorraine.
Lille were a point clear of a trio of clubs – Paris Saint-Germain FC, Stade Rennais FC and Olympique Lyonnais – prior to kick-off but now have breathing space having made the most of their game in hand. It was not until the second half that they stamped their authority on 13th-placed Nancy, though, Gervinho (47, 61) scoring either side of Eden Hazard (49). The visitors' misery was compounded by André Luiz's 74th-minute dismissal.
Elsewhere, holders Olympique de Marseille will face Montpellier Hérault SC in the French League Cup final on 23 April at the Stade de France after a 2-0 victory away to AJ Auxerre. Brandão (45) and André-Pierre Gignac (68) were on target once again for OM having struck in the 2-1 league triumph over FC Girondins de Bordeaux on Sunday.
