Arsenal triumph tarnished by injuries

Arsenal FC moved within a point of pacesetters Manchester United FC after defeating Stoke City FC 1-0 at home, though the win was marred by injuries to Theo Walcott and Cesc Fàbregas.

Sébastien Squillaci headed his first Premier League goal for Arsenal FC as the Gunners overcame Stoke City FC 1-0 at home.

Theo Walcott had already struck a post with a shot before the unmarked  Squillaci guided in Nicklas Bendtner's cross from close range on eight minutes. The victory − the Gunners' seventh in a ten-match unbeaten league run dating back to mid-December − came at a price, however, with both Walcott (ankle) and captain Cesc Fàbregas (hamstring) sustaining injuries.

While Arsenal moved a point behind Premier League leaders Manchester United FC, although they have played a game more, Stoke remained tenth following their fifth successive away loss in the top flight.
