LOSC Lille Métropole restored their five-point lead in France thanks to a 2-0 win against Toulouse FC, on a day when Stade Rennais FC regained second spot by downing OGC Nice by the same scoreline.

Held 1-1 by AJ Auxerre in their previous championship assignment, Lille extended their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 to 13 matches to maintain their title charge. Gervinho opened the scoring seven minutes before half-time after Matthieu Valverde had parried a shot from Moussa Sow, and substitute Túlio De Melo then sealed the result on the break in added time.

Before that match, Rennes kept the pressure on by securing victory in their own fixture. The Brittany side made their domination count when Victor Montano registered from close range on 52 minutes, and Abdoulrazak Boukari converted from the spot six minutes later after Yacine Brahimi had been felled by Nice's Kafoumba Coulibaly. In Sunday's other game, Valenciennes FC defeated Stade Brestois 29 3-0.
