Bundesliga strugglers VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach have parted company with coach Michael Frontzeck.
Frontzeck was dismissed after Saturday's 3-1 loss at FC St Pauli left his side three points adrift at the bottom of the German top flight. "In the wake of the two defeats against Stuttgart [3-2] and St Pauli, we needed to think hard about our situation," said sporting director Max Eberl. "It was a very difficult decision."
"We all hoped to reach our goals with Michael Frontzeck," added Mönchengladbach vice-president Rainer Bonhof, "but the newest developments have prompted us to come to this decision." No announcement has yet been made on who will succeed the 46-year-old former German international.
