Helsingborgs IF won the Swedish Super Cup for the first time on Saturday, defeating southern rivals Malmö FF 2-1.
Central defender Marcus Nilsson opened the scoring for Helsingborg, domestic cup winners last season, in the second minute with a dipping half-volley. Malmö − the Allsvenskan champions − replied 15 minutes later through Brazilian midfielder Wilton Figueiredo.
It remained that way until added time, when Erik Sundin tapped in a low cross from close range. The 2011 season begins in the first weekend of April.
