Olympique de Marseille could only eat into LOSC Lille Métropole's Ligue 1 lead by one point as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Toulouse FC, but Olympique Lyonnais did close in on the leaders on Sunday.
Lille's surprise 1-0 reverse at AS Monaco FC on Saturday handed Marseille the chance to reduce the deficit to a single point. But Didier Deschamps's men were thankful not to suffer a defeat of their own as André-Pierre Gignac rescued a draw six minutes from time.
Second-placed OM took the lead through Loïc Rémy on the half-hour mark but Daniel Braaten levelled just before the break and Mauro Cetto headed Toulouse 2-1 up in the 61st minute. It was left to substitute Gignac to turn in Rémy's cross and deny his former club a six-point buffer on the bottom three.
Lyon are within five points of Lille and two of Marseille following a 3-0 defeat of RC Lens, whose relegation fears increase. It was scoreless on 55 minutes but then Henri Bedimo put through his own net. Jimmy Briand swiftly made it two and Lisandro struck in added time. OGC Nice are two points clear of the bottom three after drawing 1-1 at Montpellier Hérault SC.
