Gomez, Stoke and Camara grab headlines

Mario Gomez scored another hat-trick in Germany, Stoke City FC broke new ground in England and Sergio Ramos dropped a cup clanger in Spain as UEFA.com wraps up the week's action.

Player: Mario Gomez (FC Bayern München)
Mario Gomez delivered a devastating reminder of his attacking verve, hitting three as Bayern demolished second-placed Bayer 04 Leverkusen 5-1 in their first game under Andries Jonker, who is standing in following the departure of Louis van Gaal. The 25-year-old forward became only the third player to score four hat-tricks in a Bundesliga season, and said: "I have had a bit of a dry spell recently, so of course I enjoyed the goals. But it's not about me being top scorer; it's about us playing in the UEFA Champions League next year." If he can score trebles in Bayern's remaining four Bundesliga fixtures, Gomez could yet steal the ESM Golden Shoe away from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Team: Stoke City FC
Stoke secured an FA Cup final berth for the first time with an emphatic 5-0 victory against Bolton Wanderers FC at Wembley. A Jonathan Walters double helped the Potters on their way to the biggest margin of victory in an FA Cup semi-final since Wolverhampton Wanderers FC beat Grimsby Town FC by the same score in 1939. "It's special, not just for me, but for the supporters who were absolutely fantastic and everybody connected with the football club," said Stoke boss Tony Pulis, whose side will face Manchester City FC in the final on 14 May.

Goal: Zoumana Camara (Paris Saint-Germain FC)
Dejan Stanković scored a much better goal for FC Internazionale Milano in midweek, but since he has been a Pick of the Week star already this season, let us instead celebrate defender Camara's rather less attractive finish with his knee. It was the decisive blow in PSG's 1-0 win against Olympique Lyonnais, a result that gives the capital side a chance of challenging their opponents for a top-three finish and a UEFA Champions League place next season. "Don't talk to me about how nice my goal was – it counts," the 32-year-old said. "I don't score that often so let me enjoy this one."

Number: 3.045
F91 Dudelange took the title in Luxembourg last week having long since outstripped the likes of FC Barcelona in the race to become Europe's most prolific side. Their average of 3.045 goals per game has left Josep Guardiola's side floundering in their wake with a measly 2.687. Indeed, Wales's The New Saints FC are now ahead of the Spanish champions on 2.827. "A lot of neutrals say they have not seen this brand of football here before, but we can get even better," said Dudelange coach Marc Grosjean. Europe: you have been warned.

Spot-kick supremo: Samir Handanovič (Udinese Calcio)
The message to any player who has scored fewer than 150 Serie A goals when stepping up to take a penalty against Udinese's Slovenian keeper Samir Handanovič is a simple one: don't bother. In-form SSC Napoli man Edinson Cavani was the latest striker to fall foul of the 26-year-old as his side lost 2-1 in Serie A on Sunday; Handanovič's save was his fifth from seven spot kicks this season, with only Hernán Crespo and Francesco Totti having managed to beat him. "I try not to move until the very last second," said Handanovič, once more giving nothing away.

Deja vu: UEFA Women's Champions League final
For the second season in succession, 1. FC Turbine Potsdam have lined up a UEFA Women's Champions League final against Olympique Lyonnais, once more denying German rivals FCR 2001 Duisburg in the semi-finals with a 1-0 second-leg win. "It's like the movie Groundhog Day," said Duisburg caretaker coach Marco Ketelaer. "I will score at least once in the final," Potsdam goalscorer Yuki Nagasato told UEFA.com, having come off the bench as her side beat Lyon 7-6 on penalties following a 0-0 draw in the 2010 decider. "This time we want to win it in regular time."

Deja vu II: FC Barcelona v Real Madrid CF
The first two parts of the Clásico saga were played out this week, with Madrid coming out on top in Wednesday's Copa del Rey final. Just like Saturday night's Liga encounter, the match ended in a draw after 90 minutes, before Cristiano Ronaldo struck in extra time. That was enough to give the Merengues their first trophy since 2008 and the psychological edge ahead of the sides' forthcoming UEFA Champions League semi-final.

You could tell it had been a while since Madrid handled any silverware, because not long after lifting the cup, they promptly dropped it. Sergio Ramos let the trophy slip out of his grasp during the open-top bus victory parade, sending it clattering to the ground and under the wheels of the double-decker – although reports suggested the cup emerged unscathed, much to the relief of the Madrid defender.

Scorer No300: Nikola Mikić (FK Crvena zvezda)
Defender Mikić's goal in Saturday's Serbian league game against FK Metalac in Kragujevac was his first for the club since his arrival in Belgrade at the end of 2009, and helped him make a tiny piece of history as the 300th player to score a league goal for 'Red Star'. "For players like me who don't usually get the chance to score goals, this is something really great," said Mikić, 25. Kosta Tomašević was the first name on that list of 300 with a hat-trick in a 3-1 win at FK Spartak Subotica on 25 August 1946. Bora Kostić is the club's all-time top scorer with 158 goals; at his current scoring rate, Mikić should match that total some time after his 312th birthday.

Improbable dream: FC Dacia Chisinau
FC Sheriff have won the last ten titles in Moldova, but with six fixtures left they are in the improbable position of trailing Igor Dobrovolski's Dacia by four points. Founded in 1999, the Wolves are pressing to become only the fourth side to be champions of Moldova since independence in 1992. "We are and we will be the team who will decide the title," said former USSR and Russia winger Dobrovolski. Sheriff's success in reaching the UEFA Europa League group stage may have cost them on the home front, with coach Andrei Sosnitski noting: "We are our own worst enemies."
