SP Tre Fiori have won their third successive league title in San Marino after Alessandro Giunta's strike sealed a 1-0 victory against SP Tre Penne in the play-off final.

Giunta's 21st-minute effort swayed a tense contest in favour of Floriano Sperindio's team, extending Tre Fiori's domination of the San Marinese championship and securing the club's seventh crown overall. The title winners will compete in next season's UEFA Champions League first qualifying round, although they will have to do so without Sperindio, who confirmed his decision to stand down shortly after the match.

"This is my last game with Tre Fiori after winning everything during three wonderful years," the coach announced. "I wish all the best to my successor."

Sperindio could not have wished for a happier sendoff as his charges completed an impressive campaign in ideal fashion. After the league's top-scorer, Giunta, had registered his 13th of the year, latching on to Cristian Menin's shrewd pass, Tre Fiori controlled proceedings without managing a second goal.

Giunta was unfortunate to see a shot come out off the crossbar, but Tre Penne rarely threatened to score the equaliser they needed to reignite their own title dream.
