The Royal Belgian Football Association (URBSFA-KBVB) has re-elected François De Keersmaecker as its president until the summer of 2013.
After a decision of the URBSFA-KBVB executive committee, De Keersmaecker will continue in the post that he has occupied since June 2006 when he succeeded Jan Peeters. The 53-year-old intends to uphold the Belgian association's slogan 'Football is a school of life'. "Football is so much more than kicking a ball," he said. "Children learn a lot at a young age which can become of real value in later life – team spirit, responsibility, fair play etc."
After becoming the URBSFA-KBVB's tenth president five years ago, De Keersmaecker was re-elected for a first time in 2009. A former amateur referee, he has been a member of the URBSFA-KBVB executive committee since 1996. As a lawyer by profession, he has also served as second vice-chairman of the UEFA Legal Committee for the last four years and on the equivalent FIFA body since 2011.
