CSKA Sofia lift record fourth Super Cup

PFC CSKA Sofia have won the Bulgarian Super Cup for a record fourth time following a 3-1 defeat of champions PFC Litex Lovech in Burgas.

Célio Codó broke the deadlock for Litex − who hope to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Wisła Kraków in Wednesday's UEFA Champions League third qualifying round decider − when he tapped in the loose ball after Ivan Karadzhov had saved Robert Flores's header. CSKA were soon on level terms, though, Spas Delev making no mistake in a one-on-one situation with Evgeni Alexandrov.

The game was decided in the space of 12 minutes at the start of the second half. First, CSKA midfielder Rumen Trifonov was fouled in the area and Ianis Zicu tucked away the penalty. A goal behind, Litex were then a man down when Wellington was sent off five minutes after his introduction.

Delev's second, just before the hour, ensured the Bulgarian Cup holders of their fourth triumph in the relatively short history of the competition. They also came out on top in 1989, 2006 and 2008.
