RCD Mallorca have named Joaquín Caparrós as the man to succeed Michael Laudrup as their coach after the 55-year-old agreed to oversee the Liga side until the end of the season.
"My coaching staff and I are going to give our hearts, souls and collective passion to this team," said Caparrós after signing a deal until June 2012. "Results will determine the future but what I can assure everyone is that we will be thinking only of Mallorca 25 hours a day. The squad here is a young one with lots of promise."
Caparrós, who counts Athletic Club, RC Deportivo La Coruña, Sevilla FC and Villarreal CF among his former clubs, left Athletic at the end of last season and was appointed boss of Neuchâtel Xamax FC in July. However, he lasted little more than a month with the Swiss top-flight outfit before resigning from that post.
Mallorca, tenth in Spain's premier division with seven points from six matches, parted company with former Denmark forward Laudrup – who had been at the helm for 14 months – on 28 September.
