Paris Saint-Germain FC were unable to return to the Ligue 1 summit after succumbing to a 3-0 loss at the home of fierce rivals Olympique de Marseille.

Looking to rejoin Montpellier Hérault SC at the top of the pile, the capital club were instead handed their heaviest defeat in all competitions this term, their second straight loss in the league leaving them three points off the pace.

Loïc Rémy got mid-table OM off to a fine start with a headed goal from a César Azpilicueta delivery on nine minutes, and Morgan Amalfitano (65) doubled the lead with a low effort before serving up a cross for André Ayew to add a third seven minutes from time.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Olympique Lyonnais put some indifferent form behind them to seal a 3-0 victory at AJ Auxerre, Lisandro (20, 68) notching his first goals for the club since August before Michel Bastos capped a fine win with two minutes remaining. That lifted the club to fifth, two places higher than FC Lorient, who saw off second-bottom OGC Nice 1-0.
