Villarreal CF have parted company with coach Juan Carlos Garrido following their Copa del Rey exit.
Having already endured a difficult season in which they have won just four times in 26 outings in all competitions to date, things got worse for the Yellow Submarine on Wednesday with the team suffering a 2-0 reverse at the hands of CD Mirándes. The third-tier side triumphed 3-1 on aggregate in their round of 32 tie.
Villarreal were previously ousted from European competition having lost all six of their UEFA Champions League group stage encounters and are fourth from bottom of the domestic standings with just three wins from 16 games.
A former Villarreal B coach, Garrido was promoted to the first team helm at the Madrigal to replace Ernesto Valverde, who was dismissed at the beginning of 2010. A statement on the club's website read: "We would like to thank [Juan Carlos Garrido] for his efforts and dedication and we wish him all the best in his professional career."
