Avram Grant has been named as the new FK Partizan coach in the wake of Aleksandar Stanojević's dismissal.

Partizan's board opted to part with the 38-year-old Stanojević on Friday after a 20-month period in which the club's youngest-ever coach delivered two league titles, including a domestic double last season. Stanojević's removal follows that of sporting director Mladen Krstajić at the end of last year.

Grant, 56, will be presented in the next few days, when details of his contract will be revealed. Best known for leading Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC and Maccabi Haifa FC to two league titles apiece, coaching Israel through 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying unbeaten and managing Chelsea FC to the 2008 UEFA Champions League final, Grant was most recently in charge of West Ham United FC, leaving in May after their relegation from the English Premier League.

He takes over a Partizan team ten points clear of FK Crvena zvezda at the winter break. Besides pushing for a fifth straight league title, they are also through to the semi-finals in their Serbian Cup defence.
