Loïc Rémy made the difference for Olympique de Marseille as Didier Deschamps's men hauled themselves back within nine points of Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain FC thanks to a 2-0 defeat of champions LOSC Lille Métropole.
Goalkeeper Mickaël Landreau kept Lille level at the interval after a half in which the home side had dominated without finding a breakthrough, but after a one-two between Lucho González and Mathieu Valbuena on the right in the 61st minute, Valbuena served up a cross for Rémy to head in the opener.
Eden Hazard forced Steve Mandanda into a fine save at the other end as Lille looked to respond, but the visitors were undone again by Rémy seven minutes from the end, the France international rounding Landreau and Aurélien Chedjou before finishing into an empty net. The win moved Marseille up to sixth, two points behind third-placed Lille.
