Queens Park Rangers FC have confirmed the appointment of Mark Hughes as manager after the Welshman agreed terms on a two-and-a-half year contract.
Hughes, who steps into the breach following the dismissal of Neil Warnock on Sunday, has taken immediate charge of the side lying 17th in the Premier League following a run of eight league games without a win.
The 48-year-old former Wales, Blackburn Rovers FC and Manchester City FC manager has been out of work since leaving Fulham FC in the summer and is looking forward to the immediate task of steering the club clear of relegation.
"I'm fully aware of the challenge in the short and long term and I am genuinely excited about the ambition of the owners," Hughes said. "Now the immediate priority is to consolidate our place in the Premier League, but beyond that, the future is very bright and fills me with great enthusiasm."
Under Warnock, QPR returned to the English top flight this season after a 15-year-absence and had made an encouraging start to the campaign before the victories dried up following a 3-2 defeat of Stoke City FC on 19 November which took them up to ninth place.
