Abel Resino has taken the reins at struggling Granada CF until the end of the season following the dismissal of coach Fabri González.
The 51-year-old Resino replaces Fabri, who led Granada into the Liga with successive promotions but was relieved of his duties after a run of four defeats in five games left them third bottom. Resino's coaching career has taken in spells at CF Ciudad de Murcia, Levante UD, CD Castellón, a brief stint at Club Atlético de Madrid in 2009, and Real Valladolid CF.
A former Atlético goalkeeper, Resino spent 13 years at the Vicente Calderón where he set the current Liga record for most minutes without conceding a goal – 1,275. His first task at Granada will be a trip to Real Betis Balompié on Sunday.
