Two goals in ten minutes before half-time completed an Olympique Lyonnais fightback after the visitors had fallen 2-0 down at Olympique de Marseille.

Benoît Cheyrou swept Marseille into a 16th-minute lead, before Brandão showed wonderful deftness of touch to cushion a 34th-minute volley past Hugo Lloris and put Marseille two up. Bafétimbi Gomis provided the perfect response for Lyon, however, tapping in a loose ball from a corner just two minutes later.

It was 2-2 just before the break, a wrong-footed Souleymane Diawara inadvertently deflecting the ball past his own goalkeeper at the near post. Lloris and Steve Mandanda were forced into good saves thereafter, but the second half remained goalless and the spoils were shared.

Lyon remain fourth as a result, a point better off than Marseille, though both sides missed the chance to climb into third after LOSC Lille Métropole's trip to FC Sochaux-Montbéliard was postponed due to adverse weather conditions. Sub-zero temperatures also got the better of SM Caen's fixture against AJ Auxerre.
