Lisbon to stage 2013/14 UEFA Champions League final

The UEFA Executive Committee started its two-day meeting in Istanbul today and decided on the appointment of the hosts for a number of club, national team and futsal competitions.

The Estádio da Luz in Lisbon will welcome the UEFA Champions League final in 2014. The venue hosted the UEFA EURO 2004 showpiece, while the city last staged a European Cup final in 1967, when Celtic FC defeated FC Internazionale Milano.

The 2013/14 UEFA Europa League final will take place at the newly built Juventus Stadium in Turin. It will be the first time Italy has hosted a one-off final in the UEFA Europa League or its predecessor, the UEFA Cup.

The UEFA Executive Committee also awarded the organisation of the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship to the Czech Republic.

The host of other youth competitions were approved as follows:

• UEFA European Under-19 Championship: Hungary (2014), Greece (2015) and Germany (2016)

• UEFA European Under-17 Championship: Malta (2014), Bulgaria (2015) and Azerbaijan (2016)

• UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship: Norway (2014), Israel (2015) and Slovakia (2016)

• UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship: England (2014), Iceland (2015) and Belarus (2016)

Finally, the 2016 UEFA European Futsal Championship final tournament will be staged in Belgrade, Serbia.

The UEFA Executive Committee will resume its meeting tomorrow morning, 21 March. A press conference will follow the completion of the meeting at approximately 12.00 local time, 13.00CET.
