After wrapping up the Bundesliga title last weekend, Borussia Dortmund gave their fans something else to cheer with an emphatic 5-2 victory at 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
Having fallen behind, the visitors were soon in the ascendancy courtesy of Lucas Barrios' quick-fire double and a Mario Götze strike. Pierre de Wit (49) reduced the deficit but any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Barrios completed his hat-trick. Ivan Perišić then compounded the hosts' misery as the Schwarzgelben extended their unbeaten run to 21 matches in all competitions.
UEFA Champions League finalists FC Bayern München overcame VfB Stuttgart 2-0 thanks in part to Mario Gomez's 26th Bundesliga goal of the season, while FC Schalke 04 are certain to finish third after defeating Hertha BSC Berlin 4-0. Fourth-placed VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach drew 0-0 with FC Augsburg.
Lowly 1. FC Köln, who cannot finish higher than third from bottom, lost 4-1 at SC Freiburg. Elsewhere, there were home wins for VfL Wolfsburg and Bayer 04 Leverkusen against SV Werder Bremen and Hannover 96 respectively, and 1. FC Nürnberg triumphed 3-2 at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Hamburger SV and 1. FSV Mainz 05 drew 0-0.
