CFR 1907 Cluj wrapped up their third Romanian title with a match to spare after coming from two down to win 3-2 at local rivals FC Universitatea Cluj.

When Marian Cristescu scored his second of the night in the 47th minute to give Universitatea a two-goal cushion, it looked as if the title race would go down to the last day of the season. However, the hosts' key man, Adrian Cristea, picked up a second yellow card soon after and it proved to be the turning point. Gabriel Mureșan struck straight away, Modou Sogou levelled matters midway through the half and then Ricardo Cadu struck an 89th-minute penalty to win the game.

The victory put CFR three points ahead of second-placed FC Vaslui and as they have the edge on head-to-head record over their title rivals, it was enough to push Ioan Andone's side over the finish line. CFR's final game of the season is at home against FC Steaua Bucureşti, who need to win to have a chance of overhauling Vaslui for the runners-up spot. Andone was CFR coach when they won their first title in 2008 and only replaced Portuguese boss Jorge Costa last month at the club's helm.
