Claudio Pizarro has rejoined FC Bayern München after a five-year absence to become the club's fourth summer signing.

The 33-year-old Peruvian forward has signed a one-year deal after joining on a free transfer from SV Werder Bremen and will team up with fellow new recruits Xherdan Shaqiri, Dante Bonfim and Tom Starke. Pizarro scored 18 goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances last term and Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger expressed his delight at securing Pizarro's services. "We are very happy to have signed an internationally experienced and very dangerous striker in Claudio Pizarro," he said.

Pizarro was previously at Bayern from 2001-2007, when he scored 71 goals in 174 league appearances and won the domestic double on three occasions. After joining Chelsea FC for the 2007/08 season he returned to Germany with Bremen and his 160 goals in 333 Bundesliga matches makes him the leading non-German tallisman in the league's history.
