Igor Denisov has been named Russian player of the season as champions FC Zenit St Petersburg dominated the end-of-term awards.

The holding midfielder played 3,600 minutes out of a possible 3,920 as Zenit regained the Premier-Liga title in a transitional 44-match campaign as Russia switches from a summer to winter season. The 28-year-old, who contributed a solitary goal, was not present to collect his award as he part of the Russia squad preparing for UEFA EURO 2012.

Zenit took three other awards at the ceremony organised by the Football Union of Russia, with Luciano Spalletti named top coach, Nicolas Lombaerts best foreign star and Roman Shirokov unveiled as the most valuable player. FC Dinamo Moskva forward Aleksandr Kokorin was named breakthrough of the year while Seydou Doumbia collected the top scorer accolade after scoring 28 league goals in 42 league appearances for PFC CSKA Moskva.
