UEFA has appointed the match officials for the UEFA Super Cup match between the UEFA Champions League winners, Chelsea FC, and the UEFA Europa League winners, Club Atlético de Madrid, to be played on Friday 31 August at the Stade Louis II in Monaco, kicking-off at 20.45CET.
Damir Skomina from Slovenia has been selected to officiate at the match and his team will be completed by Primoz Arhar and Matej Žunič, who will operate as assistant referees, with Bojan Ul acting as fourth official. Matej Jug and Slavko Vinčič will complete the referee team acting as additional assistant referees.
The 36-year old official, who has been an international referee since 2003, has officiated in total seventy-five UEFA matches in his refereeing career. Last season in the UEFA Champions League, the Slovenian referee handled one play-off match, three group stage matches, one match in the round of 16 and the quarter-final match between Chelsea FC and SL Benfica. During the same season, he also officiated at two UEFA Europa League matches, including the semi-final between Valencia CF and Club Atlético de Madrid. Last but not least, Skomina officiated at two group matches (Netherlands vs Denmark and Sweden vs England) and one quarter-final (Germany vs Greece) of the recent UEFA EURO 2012.
