Hughes elected FAW president

Trefor Lloyd Hughes has been elected as the new president of the Football Association of Wales, with the 64-year-old succeeding Phil Pritchard who had held the post since 2009.

Trefor Lloyd Hughes has been elected as the new president of the Football Association of Wales (FAW). He succeeds Phil Pritchard, who had held the post since 2009.

Hughes, 64, hails from Anglesey and was voted onto the FAW council in 1989. He was previously treasurer and senior vice-president. He was also the North Wales Coast FA area association representative for many years and has acted as secretary of the Anglesey League, the Welsh Alliance and North Wales Football Association. He has also served as chairman of Anglesey Council and mayor of Holyhead.
