Eintracht Frankfurt's excellent start to the Bundesliga season continued as Armin Veh's promoted side made it three wins from three at home to Hamburger SV.

Japanese midfielder Takashi Inui put the hosts ahead on 13 minutes, before forward Olivier Occean got his first of the season five minutes later. Heiko Westermann pulled a goal back for HSV on the stroke of half-time, but Stefan Aigner's second of the campaign restored Eintracht's two-goal advantage. Although Son Heung-Min struck with 27 minutes remaining, it was not enough to earn a first point of the campaign for Hamburg, who joined Bayer 04 Leverkusen and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as early victims of the Eagles.

Elsewhere, late goals from Cedric Makiadi and Sebastian Freis earned SC Freiburg a first win of the season as they defeated Hoffenheim 5-3 in a goal fest. The visitors seemed to be set for their first points of the season when Matthieu Delpierre put them ahead two minutes in, but Karim Guédé and Max Kruse turned it around to send Freiburg in ahead at the break. Boris Vukcevic and Takashi Usami then registered after the interval for Hoffenheim, either side of Fallou Diagne’s 68th-minute effort for the hosts, but two goals in the final seven minutes sealed it for Freiburg to leave their opponents joint bottom.
