The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body has today confirmed sanctions against Montpellier Hérault SC after their UEFA Champions League Group B match against FC Schalke 04 on 3 October.
The French club's coach René Girard has been given a €5,000 fine for improper conduct and suspended from carrying out his function for the next two UEFA competition matches. The ban for the second game is suspended for a probationary period of three years.
Montpellier have also been fined €17,000 for the throwing of missiles and fireworks by their fans, and for the improper conduct of the team (five cards or more). An appeal may be lodged against the decision within three days of receipt of the written grounds for the decision.
