Olympique Lyonnais stormed back to the top of Ligue 1 with an eye-catching 4-1 win at Olympique de Marseille.
Lyon, who began the match a point behind Paris Saint-Germain FC and OM, were ahead on three minutes when Bafétimbi Gomis converted a penalty – they never looked back. Gomis went on to complete a hat-trick and Steed Malbranque also scored as Les Gones moved two points clear.
Steve Mandanda conceded the penalty when he fouled Gomis, who stepped up to convert. Gomis made it two on 34 minutes after rounding Mandanda, who was beaten for a third time early in the second half as Malbranque found space in the box. Gomis struck his third on 72 minutes and although Loïc Rémy pulled one back, OM had Rod Fanni sent off soon after.
Elsewhere in France tonight, Montpellier Hérault SC and LOSC Lille reached the League Cup semi-finals.
