SC Bastia dealt a serious blow to Olympique Lyonnais' title hopes as they eased to a shock 4-1 victory over their second-placed opponents in Corsica.
Remi Garde's side remain four points adrift of leaders Paris Saint-Germain FC, who travel to AS Saint-Étienne on Sunday with the opportunity to add to that cushion.
Twenty-year-old midfield prospect Florian Thauvin fired Bastia into the lead on the cusp of half-time, but Lisandro levelled matters soon after the restart. Undeterred, Bastia produced an immediate riposte – two goals in six minutes from Anthony Modeste and Thauvin – to take control. Wahbi Khazri cemented a fine win which leaves Bastia joint 13th with their island rivals AC Ajaccio, who drew 0-0 at Olympique de Marseille on Friday night.
The surprises continued as LOSC Lille succumbed 2-1 at home to Évian Thonon Gaillard FC – opening goalscorer Salomon Kalou going from hero to villain with an own goal that handed strugglers Évian their seventh win.
LOSC stay sixth, a point ahead of champions Montpellier Hérault SC, who were held 1-1 at home by ES Troyes AC. FC Lorient are two points further back, trimming the gap with a 4-0 defeat of Stade Brestois 29.
Elsewhere, Stade de Reims boosted their survival prospects with a 1-0 win against Stade Rennais FC, something relegation-threatened FC Sochaux-Montbéliard could not manage in a 1-1 home draw against Valenciennes FC.
