Wigan boost survival chances as Gunners go third

A day of drama at the bottom of the table has meant just three points separate four teams in the fight to avoid relegation from the Premier League. 

Wigan Athletic FC were the day's big winners, prevailing 3-2 at West Bromwich Albion FC, battling back after going behind twice. Callum McManaman crashed in a close-range winner ten minutes from time, although goalkeeper Joel and a last-minute goal line clearance played an equally crucial role for the visitors.

That leaves Roberto Martínez's outfit just two points behind Sunderland AFC, who play Stoke City FC tomorrow, and three points adrift of both Newcastle United FC and Norwich City FC with a game in hand over the pair. The Canaries succumbed 2-1 at home to Aston Villa FC, Gabriel Agbonlahor scoring twice (including a last-minute winner), while Alan Pardew's Magpies ground out a goalless draw at West Ham United FC.

Meanwhile, Arsenal FC moved third, two points clear of London rivals Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC, with a slender win at Queens Park Rangers FC, Theo Walcott scoring the only goal after just 20 seconds. Gareth Bale's stunning winner shook his former club Southampton FC as Spurs matched that scoreline.

Relegated Reading FC won 4-2 at Fulham FC, while Swansea City AFC v Manchester City FC finished goalless.
