FC Barcelona celebrated claiming the Spanish Liga title in style with a 2-1 victory at third-placed Club Atlético de Madrid, after Valencia CF triumphed at Rayo Vallecano de Madrid to consolidate fourth place.
Tito Vilanova's charges were already assured of the Liga title after Real Madrid CF were held to a 1-1 draw at RCD Espanyol on Saturday and, although they fell behind to Falcao's 28th goal of the season, the Catalan club were not to be denied. Alexis Sánchez struck the equaliser on 72 minutes and the comeback was complete eight minutes later when Gabi turned the ball past his own goalkeeper.
Earlier in the day, Roberto Soldado scored twice as Valencia CF put four past Rayo Vallecano to move fourth, one point ahead of Real Sociedad de Fútbol, who have a game in hand. RC Celta de Vigo remain 19th, three points from safety, after suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of seventh-placed Real Betis Balompié.
Betis now have Málaga CF and Sevilla FC either side of them after the pair played out a 0-0 draw in the late evening game.
