Real Sociedad de Fútbol posted a vital 2-1 comeback win at Sevilla FC which keeps them ahead of Valencia CF, who had earlier edged past Getafe CF.
With only two matches left Sociedad are in the driving seat to secure the coveted fourth place in the Liga. Phillipe Montanier's men fell behind to Ivan Rakitić's tenth-minute strike, but the Croatian international also scored the equaliser just six minutes later – inadvertently heading past his own goalkeeper. Imanol Agirretxe's excellent controlled finish – his 13th of the season – gave Sociedad a half-time lead they defended to the last.
The win was a necessary one, as Valencia had earlier beaten Getafe thanks to Jérémy Mathieu's goal on the cusp of half-time. Ernesto Valverde's men are level on points with Sociedad, but below them on head to head.
Granada CF, meanwhile, recorded a crucial victory over CA Osasuna which enabled them to leapfrog their opponents into 15th and boost their survival prospects. They are seven points clear of the danger zone with two fixtures remaining, though many of their rivals have a game in hand.
