Eyjólfsson sets Iceland new challenge

We're very disappointed, you can see that in the team. The problem was that we didn't score a goal. We created some chances [and in] the first match we played very well. The second was not that good, but I think this game we created chances. Everybody needs a little luck, but it's not only that.

In the second half, the team worked very hard. I changed our midfield, they had to play further up the pitch. They were too close to the defence in the first half, and it was too easy for Iceland in midfield. I put Lieke [Martens] as the central striker and Manon [Melis] on the flank to try and get a grip on the midfield.

Of course there are some positive things we can take home with us, even if it's tough to say what exactly so soon after this defeat. It was good that we were here. I said at the start of the tournament we need those kinds of games to improve, but you cannot be happy with the results.

I think we played really well today tactically, especially in the first half when our game plan really worked and gave us great scoring opportunities. In the second half, we were under a lot of pressure and struggled to keep the ball, so it was more about defending and keeping it 1-0. The players worked really really hard for this and it's great to celebrate at the end of the game.

Historically, the best Iceland sports team is the men's handball team which got silver in the Olympics, but the women's soccer team is up there with the best. It's great for us in such a big sport to have a team in the quarter-finals at the EURO, an amazing achievement.

This was our goal before the tournament. We've achieved that now, and now we'll try to qualify for the semi-finals. We'll set new goals now. It's a breakthrough, and now we're aiming for the next breakthrough.

I'd prefer to play Sweden in the last eight. We've played France too many times, and though we've met Sweden twice this year already, it would be great to play the hosts, with a big crowd. It would be great for the girls too. France would be good too, but it would be special for many of our girls to play Sweden as they play here. They're both extremely good teams. It's a matter for us to prepare now and we'll see who we get tomorrow.
