Villarreal CF are enjoying their return to the Spanish top flight, maintaining a 100% record with a win at CA Osasuna on a day when Real Valladolid CF were also victorious.
Villarreal were buoyant having beaten UD Almería on the opening day of the season and won at Valladolid last time out and they were ahead midway through the first half thanks to a Jérémy Perbet goal. Indeed, there was no looking back for the Yellow Submarine after Javier Aquino doubled the lead on the half-hour and Ikechukwu Uche completed the scoring 15 minutes from time.
Earlier in the day, Valladolid clinched their first win of the season, Marc Valiente with the only goal of the game against Getafe CF. In the day's other game the spoils were shared as Granada CF's Piti cancelled out a Rafinha strike for RC Celta de Vigo.
On Friday night, Andreas Ivanschitz hit an added-time winner as Levante UD prevailed at ten-man Rayo Vallecano de Madrid, while it was honours even between Almería and Elche FC.
