FC Shirak claimed the Armenian Super Cup for the fourth time after goals from Serge Deble and Didier Kadio earned a 2-0 win for the reigning league champions against cup winners FC Pyunik.

Just three days ago Pyunik, currently top of the table, handed a 2-0 league defeat Shirak but the roles were reveresed in the showpiece as Vardan Bichakhchyan's men took the spoils. The Gyumri-based victors looked the better side throughout and they opened the scoring on the half-hour mark as midfielder Deble played a slick one-two with Dame Diop before shrugging off his marker and firing past Gor Manukyan.

The capital side pushed for an equaliser but lacked pace in their attacking thrusts, and left themselves increasingly open on the counter to the dangerous Shirak forward line. The game was wraped up as the final whistle neared, as Manukyan misjudged a corner which allowed Kadio to turn in and seal the win to leave Bichakhchyan delighted.

"We are celebrating a very important victory today, as well as for our city Gyumri," he said. "In the last league game we were far from our best, so this was a much-needed win from a psychological point of view. I have to thank all the players, who did not let their heads go down after few poor games."
